I'm Jenny Quinlan, but everybody calls me Jenny Q, and I hope you will too!

I am an editor and book coach specializing in historical fiction and romance. I founded Historical Editorial in 2011, and since then I've edited over 500 manuscripts and helped hundreds of authors achieve their publishing goals.

I recently founded The Winning Writer (website coming soon) with the aim of
fostering a culture that values mental health, creativity, and self-care for writers. My goal is to create a community of passion, resilience, and growth, where writers feel supported, inspired, and motivated to pursue their creative dreams, along with resources that help writers find the drive and enthusiasm needed to overcome challenges and realize their full potential.

And stay tuned for more information about The Winning Writers Club!

I hold a BA in history from Virginia Tech and an editing certification from the University of California, San Diego. I have ten years of experience organizing events for writers and am currently serving my third term as Historical Novel Society North America Conference Chair. I am a voracious reader with an analytical mind, an eye for detail, and a passion for good books.

When I'm not working, I love to travel—visiting historic sites, having some fun in the sun, and eating good food! My hobbies include photography, observing nature and wildlife, and of course, reading. I am a farmer's daughter—my dad raises Black Angus beef cattle—and I am a country girl at heart, but I love a big-city getaway, and I'm determined to see as much of Europe as possible! In addition to history and reading, I love dogs, music, craft beer, and football. I live on a farm in Virginia with my family and a spoiled-rotten German Shepherd.
